Limited Submissions

Applications to limited submission opportunities will be handled according to the process outlined below.

Foundations and Corporate Sponsors
All applications to foundations and corporate sponsors will be processed by University Advancement. Please contact Jennifer Lidar for foundations (jlidar@usc.edu) and Dr. Llewellyn Cox for corporate sponsors (llewellc@usc.edu).

Government Sponsors (Federal and State)

Step 1: School identifies a Limited Submission Opportunity
School identifies opportunity and sends email to researchsupport@usc.edu containing the following information:
– Sponsor agency
– Program name
– Link to the specific program opportunity
– External deadline date
– Number of slots available to USC

Step 2: Notification of Opportunity to Schools & Internal Deadline
OORI will set a deadline and email the opportunity information and the internal proposal submission to all research deans for distribution to their faculty.

Step 3: Internal Application Process
Interested faculty are to submit a one-page application and CV to OORI’s application portal (https://rii.usc.edu/oori-portal/). Additional submission materials can be found on the portal. Proposals submitted via email will not be considered.

Step 4: Nominee Selection
OORI reviews submitted proposals and confirms nominee within 1–2 business days (timeline may vary based on the number of applications). OORI then provides DCG with the name(s) of nominee(s). Nominee selection depends on the number of available slots and applications:

• • – If applicants = slots → All applicants nominated

• – If applicants from same school > slots → OORI ask the School Research Dean to select nominee(s)

If applicants from different schools > slots → SVP selects nominee(s)
